May, 2001 Archive America Feels Like A Host at PRISM International's Annual Conference Bal Harbour, Florida PRISM International, the industry association for commercial paper records and electronic media management companies, held its annual conference and trade show at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort in Bal Harbour, Florida on May 5th through the 9th. As the largest family-owned independent operation in the area (with facilities serving all three counties in Southeast Florida),
Archive America enjoyed hosting many of the industry's visitors, welcoming a number of guests for tours of our Miami Dade facilities. From a local company General Manager from across the state in Sarasota, Florida to the owners of records management businesses in Switzerland and Germany,
Archive America felt fortunate to show folks around its operations and exchange ideas on how these other operators delivered services in their respective markets.
The conference included a presentation by
Archive America owner and CEO
Andy Blank, who offered his ideas and experience in Juggling Business, Family, & Everything Else.
Andy, normally a little shy in making such appearances used actual events, family history, and his own methods of time management in his presentation - which apparently received high marks from attendees.
Archive America team members also shared time in the Information Management International (IMI) trade show booth.
IMI is the network of RIM businesses offering consolidated services worldwide under one single contract or corporate umbrella.
About a dozen Archive America employees attended the conference at various times throughout the week to take advantage of the conference being held so close to our corporate headquarters.

Archive America has announced the successful implementation and testing of online solutions for customers to interact with us via the Internet.
Archive America is excited about the new tools being made available to clients. "This raises the bar for our competition. Now clients can check for themselves on a regular basis how good a job we've been doing for them all along. Clients can see when items were scanned into the system and check the status of requests in process, holding us accountable for the timeliness of our services. Our management team has been using this information all along to measure performance. But now customers can update themselves directly with electronic proof of every transaction. Add to that the ability to enter or edit descriptive information, place requests, etc. and we've created a whole new set of choices for our clients. We're all pretty excited around here."

Archive America has added new technology to its already potent arsenal of superior systems with a joint development effort through its strategic partner, O'Neil Software. The solution is equivalent of a player like FedEx now being able to track label formats from companies like UPS, RPS, or the United States Postal Service as a unique package in their database.
"This represents a major victory for both our customers as well as for
Archive America from a
productivity and accuracy standpoint. Think about FedEx tracking millions of containers and envelopes around the country all of a sudden being able to track labels and packages from all their major competitors. There has always been, and to some extent there remains, the simple premise that control of label numbering and of label distribution has fundamentally achieved maximum accuracy. Through investments and ideas driven by
Archive America, O'Neil Software of Irvine, CA developed new proprietary solutions that maintained the ability to track unique numbers within the system through barcode scanning yet opened up the ability to use labels already affixed to boxes and files. This is a huge win for everybody."
The new tools have been implemented through the guidance of Ms Mary Russell, General Manager of facilities in Dade and Broward Counties. There has always been a desire to use pre-existing labels. Now we've got the best of all worlds. We can use a prefix that makes the item unique in our database yet use barcodes with identification used by our customers; numbers the customer already knows. Add to that some supplemental information we import direct from our largest customer's database and we've got critical file information online that makes use of our systems really easy for the client. And no potential errors from keypunching."
Thanks to a combination of the unique multiple-read-per-scan technology used by Symbol Technologies, software developed by both Symbol and O'Neil, and a design effort between Archive America and O'Neil, this new capability will benefit all sizes and types of Archive America clientele. For more information on how your current barcode labels can be used to the join benefit of your office and your local Archive America office, contact your local Account Executive or contact us at (800) 273-8587, via the web at www.archiveamerica.com or via email at info@archiveamerica.com. |
