Archive America’s comprehensive suite of services from box storage, media storage, vital records storage all fall under the umbrella of our core business of information management. Information management and information managers are relatively new terms in the business community, only becoming more commonplace over the last few years. Since records management companies started providing their services more than 25 years ago, there was little thought in the way that records management companies handled the actual information that they stored. As far as the practice of information management was concerned, no one had even thought as to what could be accomplished with all this data. Records Management and information management services organizations hold a vast amount of data on behalf of their clients, this data is a combination of a few things. Firstly, when a client sends boxes files and tape media to offsite storage, these items are scanned several times before being shelved, this provides historical time and date data that can track the history of an item. In addition to this, Archive America’s comprehensive and industry specific software allows us to capture many fields of data about each specific item. Weather it be Archive Filing, Vault Storage, box storage or media storage, we can capture rich text fields for general searching, date fields, sequence ranges and many other types of data. All of this information that we have traditionally has not been either available to records and information managers, or even considered important. Archive America realized many years ago the value of the information that we hold gives our customers records management and knowledge management departments a vital source of data that would in the past have been scattered in many directions. Archive America works with each of our clients to see what data they have existing, what data they need or would find useful and how that data should and can be given to the client. In the past and also well into the future, hard copy reporting was, is and will always be popular, quick and easy to obtain and easy to annotate, these reports are a quick reference guide that will probably never go away. But as we move forward with technology, the ability to get data to our customers in a meaningful way becomes even more important. Archive America supplies data to clients in text formats and through many different software systems and even through it’s own software AAPartner, which allows records managers to access data from their desktop and see up to the minute information about their items. Our commitment to information management and to our information managers allows us to always be looking at new avenues to help our clients truly take ownership of their data. |
